Supporting the Lives of Those Who Serve

Few insurance companies have as long and storied a history as The Cigna Group, which has been around for more than 230 years. The company can trace its beginnings to 1792, when it was created by a few citizens in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, birthplace of the U.S. Marine Corps.

We were originally known as the Insurance Company of North America (INA). And our first act of service was to insure a ship’s captain and cargo against pirates on a voyage from Philadelphia to Northern Ireland.
