If you enjoy analyzing data to see the bigger picture and are comfortable with taking and assigning risk, then our Risk Management and Underwriting Leadership Development Program (RULDP) could be a perfect fit.

RULDP includes a summer internship (Explore) and a full-time development program (Evolve), both designed to train you for a successful underwriting career in Risk Management & Underwriting. Learn more below:

RULDP Explore: Spend 10 weeks with us evaluating the risk of insuring potential customers and using that information to set premium rates for insurance coverage. You'll also join a group project, engage in community service, and attend leadership talks.

RULDP Evolve: Receive comprehensive training and complete two rotations to explore different markets, buyer groups, or product lines. Most associates start in Medical Underwriting and grow into new roles as they advance their careers.

 Dates:
Recruiting for this program begins annually in Early September and runs through November. If opportunities remain available, recruitment will re-open in mid-January.

Our recruitment process consists of several rounds including a recruiter phone screen, job overview and two rounds of interviews.

RULDP hires for hybrid positions across the country. Locations include:

Bloomfield, CT
Philadelphia, PA
 Chattanooga, TN
 Franklin, TN

Scottsdale, AZ

 Timeframe:
RULDP Evolve, our Full-Time Program is a 5-year program providing technical training, professional development and optional rotational opportunities.

RULDP Explore, our Summer Internship runs for 10 weeks during the summer beginning in mid-May each year.

Who We Hire:
This program helps you transition from campus to corporate—ideal for recent grads eager to apply their knowledge. We’re seeking candidates for internships and full-time roles with majors in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Economics, Finance, Management, Math, or Healthcare.

Areas of exposure:


Most associates joining the program will start their careers within the Cigna Healthcare division and will have the option to complete rotations to take on new responsibilities and experiences. These new experiences could include the following:

•    New Market (different geographies) 
•    New Buyer Group (employer size) 
•    New Product (ex. Supplemental Health, Pharmacy, Dental, etc.) 

While all rotations will be within the Risk Management & Underwriting department, participants will also gain exposure to the following functional areas: Sales, Implementation, Contracts, Pricing, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and more!
