Jumpstart your career with the same program that gave our Chief Financial Officer his start!

With The Cigna Group's Actuarial Executive Development Program (AEDP), you’ll take your existing math and technical skills and put them to work in a business setting, making a difference for millions across the globe. The knowledge, experience, and mentorship you’ll receive while in the program are designed to develop you into a future business leader.

After graduating from the program, many of our associates continue their career in various functions across the organization. The AEDP has a long history at The Cigna Group, providing members access to a network of graduates including our Chief Financial Officer, Evernorth Chief Executive Officer, SVP Business Financial Officer, Chief Investment Officer, and VP of Behavioral Health.

The AEDP offers a summer internship experience and full-time opportunities.

Who we hire:
For our full-time associates, we look for candidates with 0 - 4 years of professional experience, who have received their Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistic, or a related major.

Successful completion of at least one SOA examination and a desire to attain FSA designation are required.
Recruiting dates:
Recruiting for the AEDP begins in August and ends in November.
Program timeframe:
AEDP associates experience 3-4 rotations, each lasting 18-24 months, and typically spend 5-7 years in the program.

After graduation, associates often continue rotating throughout various areas of our business.

Rotational opportunities:


The AEDP has a dedicated program team, including two credentialed FSAs, that work with associates to identify rotational opportunities that will help you grow into a business leader. As an associate, you'll have 3 to 4 rotations in a wide variety of areas.

Access to a large community of actuaries
As a program associate, you'll join a large, welcoming community of actuaries who are readily available to teach and mentor you. Our community — from senior executives to current associates —  are committed to providing one-on-one career advice and having discussions about their roles and experience in the health services industry.

Exam support
                             
We know working full-time and obtaining your Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation can be tough. That's why we offer support by financially covering exam fees and study materials, as well as providing time off work for "study hours". Additionally, we'll financially reward you with raises as you pass your exams.

We develop leaders
Our program has an outstanding track record of producing ambitious and talented actuaries who go on to fill diverse leadership roles within the organization. Many program associates get management experience within their first five years of work through our summer internship and go on to manage teams early after their program experience. And we can proudly say many of our business leaders and financial officers – including the CEOs of our health plan and health services businesses – are graduates of the AEDP.

Explore our summer internship experience...
The Cigna Group's 11-week actuarial summer internship is designed to identify future full-time associates for the AEDP. In fact, over 75% of our interns join us full-time after college.

As an intern, you're assigned a project to own all the way from data collection and analysis to recommendation communication. At the end of the summer, you’ll present your findings to the entire actuarial department.

And as an added bonus, we have a jam-packed social calendar for our interns made up of Executive and Actuarial speaker series, technical development workshops, social activities, volunteer events, and more!

Who we hire: Students progressing towards a degree in Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics, or a related major. Outstanding analytical, technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills are crucial.

There is no minimal actuarial exam requirement for our internship.

Recruiting dates: Recruiting for our actuarial summer internship begins every August and ends in November.

Internships are available in: Austin, TX; Bloomfield, CT; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; and Philadelphia, PA. Furnished housing is provided for AEDP interns that join The Cigna Group for the summer.
